about me

Well, it’s time for me to update this page again. When I started this site I had quit my career, got rid of all my belongings and set out with just my backpack. I ended up volunteering in Haiti for 5 months, then traveling randomly around. Which is where I am today. At this moment I am wrapping up a month in London and headed to eastern Europe for a few weeks.
What next? I’m not certain really. I predict I’ll wrap up Oct 2010 in Europe then head to the USA. I have an idea in my head that I’m going to grab a place to live for a few months, or even a year, and get some things done. Although, I’m still going to do some sweet trips while I’m at it. After that? Who knows, but I do kind of like the idea of doing some volunteering in western Africa. We’ll see. I have a towel and a roll of duct tape, so the options are wide open.
At 37 years old I’m probably supposed to have a mini van, an ulcer and a mortgage. Sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do though. Know what I mean? I suspect there is much more to life than collecting pay checks and buying stuff that I don’t need. So I’m going to go take a look around and see what I can figure out.
I’d be bedazzled if you were to follow along with me. I could certainly use your advice, encouragement and smartass remarks to keep me going. Definitely feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance whatsoever: rerunaround at gmail dot com. I’ll leave you with a few things that keep me motivated.

If you’re visiting Japan you should visit either Hokkaido, in the north, or Yakushima in the south.

Shawn, I had no idea you’re from Victoria. Me – Vancouver. It’s comforting to know another nomad is close by. :)

Nomadic Chick, that’s rad that you live in the Cougar! Such a great city. Almost as good as Victoria :)
I’m living in Montreal for the next few weeks, then off for some backpacking. Someday when I need a travel break I’ll move back to BC. Either in Van or Victoria. I’m actually already looking forward to it a bit.

Hey there Shawn,
Found your comment on the little monkey’s site and followed you here. I agree with you that we are also jumping for joy if we receive a comment or two.
I love that you are taking the risk to see the world.
No one every said, I wish I could’ve worked more! Right??

Hi Shawn,
Hoping to do something similar myself later in the year. Looking forward to hearing how you get on. I am probably flying into Kuala lumpur to hit the islands and de-westernise and then trek up to China/Tibet trek down to indonesia on to OZ for a year then hopefully hit NZ and some pacfic islands all going well. When are you heading off?
