You can only reach it by canoe, the people are wonderful, home-cooked food is amazing and the host Thomas takes you on lots of great walks, bike rides and canoe trips around the village. It was our favourite place on our year-long RTW trip packed with amazing experiences. It's an incredible country. When you are in Kerala I would also REALLY recommend staying at an amazing homestay in a village in the backwaters. I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and it's a great place to unwind and chill out. :) Byron Bay is also brilliant (I went surfing with wild dolphins there) - it's getting a little touristy but go a little north or south of the 'main drag' and you'll have a great time.
